What we do

Some problems need more than a quote. They need investigation, sound judgment, and someone who can connect the details. Hewnigan brings those pieces together.

Three areas of support

The right work.
A clear way forward.

From a building problem to a business decision, the starting point is the same: understand the situation, define useful work, and agree on the scope.

01 / FACILITIES & CONSTRUCTION

Construction & Facility Consulting

Help diagnosing construction and facility problems, comparing solutions, and coordinating the people needed to address them.

  • Problem assessment and solution definition
  • Scope, proposal, and pricing review
  • Vendor and trade coordination
  • Project follow-through and progress tracking
02 / PROJECT SUPPORT

Project Coordination & Problem Solving

Practical ownership of the planning and coordination that messy, neglected, or difficult projects need.

  • Clarify requirements and unresolved decisions
  • Organize tasks, dependencies, and responsibilities
  • Coordinate vendors and stakeholders
  • Resolve obstacles and keep the next steps moving
03 / BUSINESS RESEARCH

Business Research & Opportunity Intelligence

Focused research that turns scattered information into useful decisions, relevant prospects, or defined opportunities.

  • Market and company research
  • Regulatory and project research
  • Opportunity identification and qualification
  • Concise findings and decision support

When to call Hewnigan

You know something needs to happen.
The path isn’t clear yet.

You do not need a finished brief to start a conversation. Bring the situation, the constraints, and what you need to resolve.

  • “We have a building problem, but we’re not sure what to ask for.”Define the issue and the work needed before seeking proposals.
  • “The quotes don’t match, and we don’t know what’s missing.”Compare scope, assumptions, exclusions, and open questions.
  • “Several people are involved, but nobody is moving it forward.”Establish responsibilities, sequence the work, and coordinate follow-through.
  • “This project has been sitting because nobody has time to untangle it.”Organize the facts and work through the decisions holding it up.
  • “There may be an opportunity here. We need the facts first.”Investigate the market, companies, requirements, and evidence behind it.

Experience behind the work

Judgment developed
through doing.

30 yearsOF HANDS-ON CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE

Hewnigan LLC is built around Kayn Simpson’s approximately 30 years of construction experience and practical understanding of how projects come together—from defining the work to coordinating the details.

That experience informs a broader consulting and project-support practice: ask useful questions, investigate what is unclear, recognize gaps, and work toward a solution that fits the situation.

Based in Franklin, North Carolina, Hewnigan supports local construction and facility projects in Western North Carolina, with business research and other remote support available by agreement.

Service terms

Scope and fees

Hewnigan LLC provides consulting, project support, coordination, and business research. Each engagement requires an agreed written scope that identifies deliverables, fees in U.S. dollars, payment schedule, and anticipated timing. Sending an inquiry does not start a paid engagement. Additional work or expenses require agreement before they are incurred.

Delivery and responsibilities

Services may be delivered remotely, on site, or through written findings as specified in the engagement. Timing depends on the agreed scope, access, client decisions, and third-party availability. Clients are responsible for providing accurate information, necessary access, and timely decisions. Vendors and trades remain responsible for their own contracts and work unless otherwise expressly agreed.

Nature of support

Research and recommendations reflect the information available at the time. Hewnigan does not guarantee a particular commercial outcome, regulatory approval, project cost, or third-party performance. Work requiring a licensed professional is referred to the appropriate provider. Consulting does not replace engineering, architectural, legal, or other licensed professional services.

Payment

Invoices and any deposits are issued according to the engagement. Payments may be processed through Stripe. No subscription or recurring charge is started without express agreement. The engagement-specific written agreement controls if it differs from these general terms.

Cancellation, refunds & billing concerns

Cancellation

To cancel or request a change, email hewnigan@gmail.com. Unless the engagement-specific agreement provides otherwise, you may end an engagement in writing. You are responsible for work completed and expenses already authorized and incurred through cancellation. Future work stops once cancellation is received, subject to any agreed handover.

Refunds

Prepaid amounts for work that has not been performed are refundable after deducting charges for completed work and authorized expenses already incurred. Fees for completed services are generally not refundable, but service or billing concerns will be reviewed. If Hewnigan cannot deliver agreed work, unearned prepaid fees for that work will be refunded.

How to request a refund or raise a concern

Email hewnigan@gmail.com with your name, invoice or engagement reference, and the reason for your request. Hewnigan will review the agreed scope, work delivered, and charges and respond with a proposed resolution. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method where available; your bank or payment provider determines when the credit appears. These terms do not limit rights provided by applicable law.
