Experience & approach

Judgment developed through doing.

I’m Kayn Simpson. Hewnigan LLC brings my approximately 30 years of hands-on construction experience to the decisions property owners and organizations need to make.

How I approach the work

Construction experience means understanding how a project’s pieces come together: field problems, scope, trade dependencies, proposals, and the details that affect the next step.

The work is practical. Ask the questions that change the decision, identify what is missing, organize the work that needs to happen, and communicate it clearly enough for owners, managers, contractors, and vendors to act.

You receive the agreed assessment, comparison, plan, or coordination record in writing. A defined review can stand alone. If more support would be useful, we agree on the next milestone before continuing.

Based in Franklin, North Carolina

Hewnigan supports property owners, businesses, and organizations around Franklin, Highlands, Cashiers, and nearby Western North Carolina. Selected research and remote project support are available by agreement.

Is this a useful fit?

Usually a good fit:

  • A substantial building or property problem with no obvious single-trade answer
  • A major repair, renovation, facility improvement, or new-build decision
  • Several proposals that do not describe the same work
  • Multiple vendors, unclear responsibilities, or a stalled project
  • An owner or manager who needs an experienced second set of eyes before commitment

Routine handyman work, emergency repair calls, and price-shopping for a clearly defined single-trade job belong with the appropriate service provider. Hewnigan does not replace engineering, architecture, legal advice, or other licensed professional services. Contractors retain responsibility for their contracts, work, means and methods, and site safety. Owners retain decisions about contracts, spending, changes, and acceptance.

Each engagement defines the deliverables, exclusions, fee, payment terms, and timing in writing before paid work begins. See the three services and their boundaries.

Referrals & introductions

Realtors, property managers, attorneys, family representatives, and trusted trades do not need to define the service before making an introduction. Start with the property or project situation, and we can determine whether there is a useful role for Hewnigan.

Selected research & business support

Selected research, vendor, operational, and opportunity-analysis projects are available when the work primarily requires investigation, practical judgment, and a concise answer. This remains a secondary service.
